These two models make use of multiple drop sensors and smart anti-collision sensors that help in controlling the movement of the vacuum; this also prevents it from falling down the stairs or ruin your delicate furniture. What makes them difference?

Design and appearance

When it comes to the design of N79s and M80 Pro, then you must keep in mind that the difference is very subtle. Both products are presented in a cylindrical and disc-like shape, the same way all robot vacuum cleaners present themselves. The M80 Pro cleaner comes with a grey central panel and has darker black accents around it whereas the N79s has a faux polished metal finish on the top.

DEEBOT N79S and DEEBOT M80 PRO appearance
The thing that is not very visible is that N70s has a flat top whereas M80 has the slightest slope running on its face. This slope is important because sometimes the dirt gets on top of these vacuum cleaners. With this slope, this dirt will fall back down and get cleaned up. With the N79s, the dirt will remain stuck on top and will have to be cleaned manually.

Aside from this, both models have a relatively similar design and a single auto-button on them if you do not like to make use of wireless control. Though another difference is that the front panel of M80 Pro can be removed, V-shaped and side easily, there is an Anti-Spill Dustbin under the panel.

Cleaning Performance

Even though the cleaning parameters and vacuum technology of both these products differ from one another due to different build and engineering, this difference is not very much. On the other hand, when discussing what surfaces they can clean, it becomes clear why you will be willing to pay extra money for an upgrade on cash.

Even with a fully functioning robot vacuum cleaner, this difference is too much. The Deebot M80 is the first vacuum cleaner in the Ecovacs line that comes with a mopping function, this function helps in increasing the versatility of this product.

Mopping function of M80 Pro

However, even with this function, the M80 Pro is not an absolute universal remedy since it also has strict isolation of functions such as the fact that this cleaner will not change from one function to other without input from the user.

For this reason, M80 is not fully automatic, and many features present in N79s and M80 Pro tend to address this concern. One thing you can rely on is the fact that the M80 Pro contains superior cleaning quality over all surfaces and any different kind of dirt.

Thanks to the Helix Brush Roll, the M80 Pro is able to transfer its helical vacuum power from simple bare floors to low pile carpet up to medium pile carper easily without any problem; however, you will have to determine the kind of floor this vacuum will clean beforehand.

Maintenance and Filtration (Dustbin)

And of course, a vacuum is nothing without its brushes. With either unit, you will get the really outstanding brushes.

This is another area where the M80 Pro makes a visible improvement over the N79s. The dustbin of this vacuum is without a doubt one ease factor and becomes impressive as the size increases. Even though this filtration and dustbin require many areas of improvement left to be made, however, M80 Pro is more advanced in this area as compared to N79s.

The larger dustbin used in the M80 Pro

When talking about the design, you can see evident improvement between the two series. N79s is inconvenient and cumbersome with a backside opening. This product is also more prone to accidental spillage, and this negates the point of having a robot cleaner in the first place.

On the other hand, the M80 Pro has a dustbin open from the top and comes with a small handle for carrying. This makes it easy to avoid spillage. Another improvement for M80’s dustbin is that is has a bigger size as compared to N79s with a difference of 500 mL and 300 mL.

When it comes to maintenance between the two, M80 Pro comes with additional cleaning feature with mop function, however; this does require more drying and rinsing.

Navigation

To navigate these vacuum cleaners, you will need Wi-Fi and App connectivity. This function does not differ much between the M80 Pro and N79s. Both these products have excellent connectivity abilities and options and can be connected and controlled by these smart devices in different ways.

These products both get connected via Wi-Fi (ECOVACS App, Alexa), not the Bluetooth. So, you can easily control your device through numerous walls and rooms; which most Bluetooth vacuum cleaners cannot achieve. The application for the controlling of this device is also very easy to use and is simple with few functions and controls. It also takes in the concern of viruses and is protected from bloatware and malware.

For those users who can’t use the Wi-Fi control, these two products still offering the traditional remote controller to keeping them working.

Cleaning Radius and Vacuum Technologies

When comparing the vacuum technologies for Deebot N79s and M80 pro we found out that this technology is mostly the same. However, M80 pro surpasses the N79 in many critical areas. The Deebot M80 Pro comes with a mopping function that N79 does not have, and this makes it difficult to compare this function on these devices.

This mopping function is the most important reason to invest in an M80 Pro instead of an N79s. However, the actual performance of both these products, suction power, and other overlapping functions do not differ from one another.

With M80 Pro, out of 5 stages of the cleaning system, 2 of these stages are linked to the mopping functions including drying. Thus, the other 3 cleaning stages of these vacuum products are the same for M80 Pro and N79s.

Charging, Runtime, And Resume

In this area, there may not be too much of a difference between the two models. The battery life of N79s is 100 minutes long whereas the battery life of M80 Pro is 110 minutes long; now this 10 min difference may not be too much until you consider the fact that M80 does more work during this time period.

Also, M80 Pro requires more power to move and vacuum as compared to the N79s. M80 also has larger battery capacity (Ni-MH 3000mAh) as compared to N79s (Lithium 2600mAh) a difference of 25 percent.

Comments and Conclusion

When comparing the two and deciding on which vacuum cleaner to buy you will have to keep in mind the differences and similarities. Some common points between the two vacuum cleaners are:

  • Both can sweep, lift and vacuum
  • They can clean pet hair and regular debris
  • Both can work on hard floors and thin carpets
  • They come with a year-long warranty and accessory kits
  • Have a rechargeable battery (with automatic charging)
  • Also, have anti-collision and anti-drop sensors
  • Have an auto-clean navigation system

Apart from this, the main difference to consider when choosing between the two is that the M80 Pro can vacuum as well as mop whereas N79s cannot. Also, the M80 pro comes with a high-power time and can work more efficiently (5 stage vs. 3 stage cleaning system) during this time period whereas N79s cannot.

The clear winner of the comparison between these two models is without a doubt the M80 Pro. However, this does not mean that this product is better enough and justifies the high price point it comes with. This product is no doubt very good and works incredibly well with many advanced features, but due to its high price (you will spend about $50 more price for M80 Pro than N79s) , it may not be good for first-time buyers.

Make sure that when choosing between the two vacuum cleaners you are aware of the features they have. If you do not want the mopping feature or want to pay a high amount of money for this machine then you can go for the N79s, whereas if you want the mopping feature, then you should clearly opt for the Deebot M80 Pro.
