In the circle of most sophisticated robot vacuums brands, Roomba stands out among others for their constant technological improvements and powerful vacuums. Recently, Roomba launched a new model – Roomba S9+. Are you curious about it? Let’s go to do the comprehensive comparison of the newest models Roomba S9+ and Roomba i7+.
What Key Features Do Roomba s9+ and i7+ Have?
Automatic Dirt Disposal System
You want a robovac that is so automatic that it can dispose of its waste by itself? The Roomba improved S9+ does that for you quite alright. This particular feature began with the Roomba i7+ actually but it is also one of the features I love about the S9+. This way, the size of the dirt bin does not matter. As soon as it fills up, it doesn’t require you to empty it like the previous models. Instead, it goes back to the dock to empty its content into the bag attached to the base which can take as much as 25 to 30 times the content of the dirt bin depending on the size of the particles vacuumed.
Unique D-shape Design
So Roomba came up with a unique feature this time. Although the shape isn’t new in the vacuuming industry, Roomba effectively modelled the D-shape by repositioning the brush rolls closer to the edge of the robot, instead of being at the center like the previous models. This makes it impossible for dirt to escape the grip of the edge brushes. The D-shape also makes corner cleaning extremely easy. At first, I was worried that because it isn’t round, the S9 wouldn’t be able to do much of edge cleaning, but it soon proved me wrong. With the side brush positioned very close (about 26°) to the pointed corner of the robot, it was able to reach even tighter spaces than the i7+ could reach.
High Intelligence Features
The Roomba S9+ is ‘blessed’ with a lot of highly intelligent tech features that make it convenient to use. I so much enjoy using the Smart Mapping System that makes it possible for the robot to save as much as 10 different floor plans and map my rooms. I like to use this feature together with the iRobot Home app. That makes it easy for me to simply give instructions like ‘Roomba, clean my bedroom!’ and my Roomba S9+ gets it done in no time.
Impressive Cleaning System
From constant usage, I have discovered that the S9 dwarfs the i7+ in terms of suction and ability to clean deeply. When I used it over deep carpets especially, I found that the S9+ was able to clean better and faster than the i7+ even though the i7+ itself didn’t do bad. It only took it more time to produce the same cleaning outcome. Judging by efficiency and time, I’d rate the i7+ 95% and the S9+ a whooping 99%!
In addition to being almost all what the Roomba S9+ is, the Roomba i7+ is capable of adjusting its cleaning unit to tighten or loosen its suction hold to suit your floor surface at each point in time. This makes your robovac tough on hard stains and gentle on your floor surface.
A Multipurpose Dock
It is common to find very recent robovacs with a dock that can double as the storehouse for your robot and as the charging base. With the Roomba i7+, Roomba commenced the added function of emptying the dirt bin by itself. This means you don’t have to be around your robot when it is cleaning, and you don’t have to worry about emptying the bin when it’s full. The Roomba i7+ is designed with so much intelligent that it can empty itself when full.
Smart Mapping System
Like the S9+ after it, the Roomba i7+ can map your apartment and save the pattern. This means each time your robovac pauses cleaning to go to empty its contents, it doesn’t have to start all over. It simply resumes from where it stopped. More so, you can order the Roomba i7+ to clean a particular spot or room.
Impressive Dirt Detection
Another key feature that endears the Roomba i7+ to me is that it has the sensor to identify and indicate spots with stubborn stains. When it locates such spots, it increases suction and runs over the spot a couple more times than usual. This is to give you ultimate perfect cleaning notwithstanding how messy your home might be. This also makes the Roomba i7+ the most perfect option for pet hair since it manages its suction mode by itself.
Roomba s9+ vs i7+ Specific Table
Roomba s9+ vs i7+ Comparison
With a very unique design that can fit anywhere, I love the Roomba S9+ for several reasons:
- It is the best option if you’ve got deep carpets.
- It cleans faster and better!
- The D-shape helps it to clean very tight crevices that cannot be reached by the circular vacs.
- Cleaning efficiency is highly improved.
- With the large self-disposal bag, you don’t have to worry about emptying your dirt bin for a long time.
- Much more easier to use than the previous models.
- Recharge and resume feature is better because the mapping system helps it to differentiate the rooms in your apartment.
- Purchase cost is rather heavy!
- Suction power is too strong for light carpets.
Highly recommendable for all kinds of pet hair, you can’t help falling in love with this robot.
- One of the most sophisticated Roomba products.
- Has an awesome navigation system that helps it avoid obstacles easily.
- Can adjust its suction mode automatically.
- Requires very little supervision.
- Its HEPA filter system makes it suitable for all kinds of persons including those with allergies.
- The best choice for pet lovers.
- Its censor could blur after prolonged use, and ur begins to bump into objects unnecessarily.
- Out of reach for those with low budgets.
When placed side by side, I discovered that the Roomba S9+ and i7+ have a lot in common especially in terms of sophistication, cleaning efficiency, etc. Notwithstanding, there a few areas of difference where one beats the other.
This Roomba s9+ vs i7+ review is based on a prolonged detailed use of the two Roomba products in question. I ran both vacs over hardwood, thick carpets, light carpets, tiles and ceramics to check which one is the most suitable for each type of floor. From this test, I discovered that the S9+ did quite well on deep carpets while the i7+ performed relatively well on all floor surfaces but was at its best when I used it on tiles and hardwood. Also, while the S9+ gave me the best cleaning output with large debris, picking them up quite easily, the i7+ had a little difficulty with them upon first run. Instead, it did a pretty good job with pet hair.
No doubt, both the Roomba S9+ and the i7+ are very excellent robots with impressive features and cleaning performance, and they give you enough convenience. Although they are a little costly, they give you enough value for your money.
